French Impressionist Watercolor of Tower by Riverside with Reflective Waters

About the Item

Title: French Impressionist Watercolor of Tower by Riverside with Reflective Waters By Maurice Mazeilie (French 1924-2021) Medium: Watercolor on paper, unframed Size: 5 x 6.75 inches (Height x Width) Signed: Initials bottom right. Condition: Good, with signs of aging. Provenance: All the paintings we have by this artist have come from the artist's estate. Description: This watercolor by Maurice Mazeilie showcases a tall, slender tower rising along the riverside, set against a background of lush greenery and a sky washed with soft hues. The tower’s delicate structure and light-colored façade draw the viewer’s eye upward, contrasting with the darker, dense foliage behind it. Below, the river reflects the scene above, with rippling water and shadowed reflections adding a dynamic quality to the composition. Mazeilie’s loose brushstrokes and airy palette capture a tranquil moment by the riverside, evoking a sense of peaceful solitude and the simple beauty of a quiet landscape.
