About the Item
Xylocollision is a series of graphics made by contemporary artist Oleg Ustinov in 2021. Works are drawn with both hands and several pencils at the same time. Pencils here resemble levers or handles from a musical instrument / remote control. In this series, musicality is important - not only in a metaphorical sense, but also in the very process of drawing. Pencils collide with each other, fall out of hands, swap places, thus producing sound compositions like clicks'n'pops or xylophone melodies.
Oleg Ustinov, b. 1984, is a Russian artist from Rostov-on-Don, a graduate of the Rodchenko Art School. He develops new forms of painting at the intersection of post-digital painting, collage and sculpture. In his artistic practice, he turns to the experience of the Soviet avant-garde and abstract expressionism.
