The artist was always interested in editions of all sorts, whether furniture, tablewear or lithographic. It all related to a new modern way of life and intrinsic to his architecture. In fact, the famous Modulor is the iconic image in Le Corbusier’s work as it is the basis for his architectural work. As in many other cases, the Master’s philosophy was very democratic and he felt that while a few proofs should be signed, the others should be signed directly in the plate so that it could be affordable to as many people as possible. He wanted not only collectors, but regular home owners to have access to an artwork of quality but reasonably priced, just as he wanted them to afford his furniture designs.
