Rachel Laxer Interiors
Quietly Polished Warmth

Rachel Laxer has built a thriving business, with studios in London and New York, thanks to her talent for relaxed and elegant interiors. Laxer composed this apartment in Tribeca for a client who wanted a welcoming space in which to spend time with her grown children. She also requested a mix of vintage and contemporary pieces that wouldn’t detract from the apartment’s stunning views of the Hudson River. So, Laxer opted for a neutral palette and stylish but subdued Italian furnishings: a pair of mid-century modern armchairs upholstered in gray velvet and a classic Minotti sofa covered in a gray tweed. Still, she found a few ways to beguile the eye, with an environment-minded commissioned collage by Australian artist Nicola Moss and a handmade 1970s coffee table with brass details by the cult Dutch sculptor Paul Kingma. The result: a study in simple sophistication.
