Ohara Davies-Gaetano Interiors

Warmth, Calm and Permanence

If you want a home with soul as well as style, Ohara Davies-Gaetano is your go-to designer. Her gift for imbuing even new residential construction with a timeless warmth is apparent in this living room of an alluring waterfront retreat in Flathead Lake, Montana. She chose an antique French limestone mantel and 18th-century French oak flooring to serve as the foundation of the space. And she drew its palette of rich, subdued tones and textures from its stunning views of lake and landscape. This approach, the Los Angeles–based designer explains, allows “nature to seep inside and become one with the interior.” Davies-Gaetano found many of the furnishings on 1stDibs, like the upholstered lounge chair in cerused oak, attributed to René Gabriel, and the 17th-century rustic oak chest from Horsch & Huebscher. While the design of these pieces is important to the structure of the room, it’s their various patinas and time-worn textures that, she says, convey the “underlying emotion of the space.”
